Catch up or ketchup...

Ever hear about the daddy, momma and baby tomato?  They all went on a hike and the baby tomato kept stopping to pick up rocks for his collection and the momma tomato kept calling for the baby to stay with the group. Finally, the daddy tomato swatted the baby tomato on the butt and said, "ketchup!".

We have been having a blast discovering our local hikes and practicing our packing skills. The boys have also had a lot of fun teaching Kooper how to hike. He is a really good dog and wants to follow the boys everywhere they go.

One of our favorite hikes lately was the Davis Creek trail. It is steep but the trail follows a small creek up the canyon.  Kyle found a baby rattlesnake!  When we made it up as high as we could go, everyone enjoyed dunking their heads in the cold water--even Kooper--who decided he wanted out of the water as soon as he got in.

We are planning our return visit to Bountiful peak next week. Anyone want to go?

Here are some of the latest pictures. Don't forget to check on us through Instagram for faster updates!

Eating healthy...

We have been experimenting with lots of healthy food for fun and to strengthen our bodies. A favorite so far has been quinoa. We have added it to everything from chicken vegetable soup and black bean southwest flavor with pineapple salsa from trader joes. We even used quinoa to make no bake cookies!

Parrish Creek Trail...

Today we took Lightning Dog (age 6) and The Hamster (age 8) high above Bountiful/ Centerville Utah. The first part was a steep elevation a little challenging for them but they each carried about 7 lbs.  One fun motivator we learned is that kids like to name landmarks on the trail. Kept them aware of their surroundings and their minds off "taking a break". They came up with "Camp Treehouse" where they want to camp next time and "Rockbiter" a small rock outcropping that looks like a face and to pay hommage to the never ending story. Next time we plan to camp and summit Bountiful peak (Elev 9,259).
